Abstract
After almost unchallenged for more that half a century ruling of Liberal-Democratic Party, to power in Japan in September 2009 came the Democratic Party. The Japanese society had high hopes for the DPJ in terms of updating the country, but over a year since the triumphant victory of Democrats showed that they are unable to resolve a number of pressing socio-economic problems and in foreign policy make one big mistake after another. With increasing frustration and dissatisfaction of the electorate at the activities of the DPJ its prospects are becoming dim.
