- Abstract
- The work examines a number of semantic and syntactic properties of Russian constructions with an indirect dative object, not a subcategorized verb (constructions with an applicative). The constructions are analyzed from the point of view of the interposition of verbal arguments in a hierarchically organized syntactic structure (evidence of binding, the effect of superiority, the scope of quantifiers, etc.) and from the point of view of their semantic properties (the possessive relation between the arguments). The opposition of adjective and adjective applicatives is revealed, which is critical for the presented analysis and for the existing theories of application.
