Abstract

The review examines the monograph by A.A. Manukhin (Ph.D, History), which deals with the United States involvement in the Mexican Revolution, 1910-1917. The author points out the need to change the traditional methodological clichés of Russian historiography of researching U.S. foreign policy toward Latin America, predetermined before by class-formation scheme. The bilateral U.S.-Mexico relations were characterized not only by the use of force, but the methods of diplomacy, which demonstrated the ambiguity of Washington to develop an adequate solution to the regional conflict that could not be reduced to politics from a position of strength.
