Abstract
The article is devoted to the memory of Luis Garcia Berlanga, director and scriptwriter, who had become the classic of the national Spanish cinema in his lifetime. The article gives the outline of his life and work and analyses the basic points of Berlanga's artistic method and his most renowned films. A special attention is paid to his collaboration with scriptwriter Rafael Ascona and his relationships with the censorship of Franco's state.
