Abstract
The following article is the research of the image of «the evil wife», which is one of the Old Russian literature (XV-XVII centuries) types widely spread. It gives the first classification of the typological features of the female image based on the verbal topos as well as motif repetitions and traditional type characteristics. The author examines the distinctive features of the «evil wife» image in the original works of Old Russian literature and its correlation with the world picture of the XVII th century scribe.
