Abstract

The Poetics of Battle Pictures in the Old Russian Military Narration has been studied for a long time. The circle of the so-called "military formulas" is revealed: relatively constant stylistic turns that make out certain stages in the descriptions of battles, which were used in different ways in different eras, were often combined into stable complexes. The author of the article traces the history of one such complex.
