Abstract
The “memory boom" that has been growing in the social Sciences for thousands of years is considered. Its specificity in Russian science and its influence on the progress of sociology are shown. Social problems of memory are considered in unity with"oblivion". The problems of “memory policy"are discussed. The factors of the memory boom, its forms of manifestation and its role in the progress of modern sociological knowledge are analyzed.
