Abstract
The article examines the human needs to merge with the instincts and behavior of animals, which finds a place in the ritual practice of esoterically oriented people through shamanism and magic. The article analyzes the archetypal thinking of an ethnic group, mainly young people, and the manifestations of totemism in modern Russian society.
