Abstract
Turkish archaeologists found the remains of a kiln and fragments of ceramic refuse, including amphora rims and toes, at the Kerameikos of Erythrai (Asia Minor). These finds allowed P. Dupont and V. Lung to identify hypothetically some series of Erythran Classical period amphorae. G. Jöhrens and M. Lawall studied rare stamps of Erythrai, and the latter proposed his own typology of ceramic ware from this place. With special attention to the amphorae collections from the North Black Sea area, and primarily to complexes of ceramic ware, the author identified about 50 well preserved forms as coming from this centre. He describes five types of 5th – 2nd c. BC amphorae and their variants with reliable chronological attribution.
