Abstract
The African National Congress, the ruling party in South Africa, declared 2017 The Year of Oliver Reginald Tambo in connection with the October 27th centenary of the birth of a man who led the ANC for almost a quarter of a century in the most difficult period of his history - years of underground and armed struggle against the regime of Apartheid. The article describes the life of this South African revolutionary, his political views, personal qualities and relations with our country, which provided crucial assistance to this struggle.
