- Abstract
- In recent years, interest in the ideas of M.M. Bakhtin, especially those expressed in the so-called "controversial works" by V.N. Voloshinov and P.N. Medvedev. Japanese scientists have recently started talking about the need to rethink the theories proposed by Bakhtin. The theory of dialogue, developed by Bakhtin, gained particular popularity. This article shows how Japanese researchers analyze the works of Bakhtin, comparing them with the works of other authors. Without pretending to provide a comprehensive coverage of the problem, we have selected three, in our opinion, the most indicative opinions of representatives of the Japanese humanities, who interpret Bakhtin's ideas from the standpoint of psycholinguistics, general linguistics and philosophy of language. All quotes from Bakhtin's works cited in the article are verified against the Russian original, the rest of the quotes have been translated by the author of the article from English and Japanese.
