- Abstract
- The article describes the characteristics of the sign language used in communication with deaf people, gives its subtypes and functions, analyzes the features of the Russian sign language and its differences from other sign languages of the world, briefly describes the properties of its lexical elements. It also provides an analytical review of computer tools for processing sign language, including sign notation systems and systems of gesture synthesis and text-to-gesture conversion existing in the world. The idea of creating a universal multimodal system for audiovisual synthesis of sound and sign speech based on the text in Russian is proposed.
