- Abstract
- At the synchronous level, a linguistic unit, deviating from, is a form that oscillates between the functions of a participle and a preposition, which has not yet finally passed into the category of prepositions, although it has gone through a number of stages along this path: the main semantic change is the weathering of the sem, including the seme 'moving'; as a result, departing from in the prepositional function indicates the place. At the level of syntax, one should highlight the loss of coreference, which the subject of the participle in relation to the subject of the main part of the sentence, and the syntactic reinterpretation should be highlighted. The specialization of suffixes leads to the distinction between prepositional (deviating from) and adverbial (deviating) forms. A description of the way of grammaticalization of adjectives is offered.
