- Abstract
- The article examines the complex vowels that distinguish Udege from other Tungus-Manchu languages. Various implementations of these vowels are demonstrated within the dialect continuum formed by the dialects of the Udege and Oroch languages. The specific mechanisms of the formation of the dialectal continuum are demonstrated using the concept of the pronunciation style of speech. Various points of view on the phonological nature of these vowel sounds are analyzed, the ambiguity of the phonological interpretation of the system of Udege vowels is shown; the irreducibility of phonological systems of different dialects is demonstrated.
