Abstract
By the style of linguistic theory, we mean the features of the consideration of linguistic objects and research tools. Differences in styles, even with significant conceptual similarities, can lead to incompatibility of theories. Consideration of the positions of differences between the concepts of poetic language (speech) of Roman Yakobson and Viktor Vinogradov demonstrates that, despite the numerous points of contact and similarity of the initial conceptual positions, the difference in styles - synthetic in Vinogradov, analytical in Yakobson - inevitably leads to a clash of approaches. The systemic (structural) approach for Jacobson is a way of abstraction and highlighting some "pure" abstract entities. On the contrary, Vinogradov, constantly speaking about "structures", understands by them more and more consolidated "one-piece" formations - up to the "literary direction taken in its entirety of its features."
