- Abstract
- The article considers the issue of the origin and functional essence of the impersonal form of the Russian verb in a new way, in connection with which the traditional opinion about the impersonal meaning of this form in all cases of its use is disputed. Two types of its functioning in the modern Russian language are considered: semantic, when it indicates the unknown of the subject of the sentence, and formal-syntactic, when it is caused by the formal peculiarities of the agreement of the corresponding predicates with the subjects of the sentence. The second type of use prevails over the first.
