Abstract
The article critically examines the causes of errors in dictionaries and publishers' comments on the word supir, which can be corrected by attracting a significant number of literary contexts and evidence of folk dialects, as well as the reasons for errors in the interpretation of two slang expressions (look at Znamenye, look at Smolnoe) from the “baikovyy language »Petersburg mazuriks, recorded by V.I. Dahlem, and the history of the distinction and confusion of the words zholneur and zaloner. These cases represent various ways of oblivion of the nominations that go into passiveness and their subsequent semantization.
