The book edited by Jonathan D. Rosen and Hanna S. Kassab, includes a collection of expert works that account for national trends in corruption in Latin America. The book begins with an approach to the conceptual debate about corruption. From there, two main lines can be distinguished on what should be the focus of attention on the origin of corrupt practices, public responsibility or private obligation. Throughout the book, the chapters focus on specific countries, offering accounts and explanations based on evidence, especially contemporary, and oscillating between the public or private origin of corruption in that region.
